Chapter 7

Nemea must have gone addlebrained. A moment of sympathy, and genuinely wanting to know he was all right after the conflict earlier in the day, had led her straight into the viper’s den. Now she found herself caught up in his coils, awaiting the strike that would send sweet rapture through her. A venom that could very well be the end of her. Somehow, they had made it to her bedroom, and as they approached the bed, Adrian relieved her of her wrap. Only his frontfalls and her nightdress remained between them.

Neither were long for this world.

As she took hold of the trousers and started unbuttoning, Adrian spun her around and pushed her forward. Her hands landed on the bed, and she groaned as he lifted the material of her night dress to her waste and caressed her in the flickering light of the one candle beside the bed. It was the night before the full moon, yet the clouds had obscured almost all the moonlight outside.

He made a sound of appreciation as he slid his fingers between her thighs and into the telling wetness that gave away how much she wanted him. Nemea parted her legs to give him better access, moaning as two of his fingers sank deep inside. Her inner muscles clamped down, greedy for more. When she figured he’d have his wicked way with her in that position, Adrian surprised her by kneeling behind her, kissing his way up her inner thighs.

Before she could question his movements, his tongue slid between her folds and brushed the bundle of nerves that sent shivers of pleasure through her. Nemea tightened her fists over the quilted bedding, moaning as his tongue flicked back and forth at an even pace. She bit her lip and moaned when he sank his fingers back inside of her, wrapping his other arm around her thigh as if anchoring her there. She widened her legs as far as she could without falling, completely lost in the sensations.

True, she had been with human males several times in her immortal life, avoiding the immortals out of fear. Not a single one of the men who had lain with her had done…this. She’d heard of the act, of course, had wondered what it was like. And as that delectable sensation came closer to bringing release, Adrian…pulled back. He stood up and backed away.

“Wh—where are you going?” She hated the whine that had entered her voice as she pushed herself up enough to turn and look at him. His frontfalls were open, barely staying up around his hips. The part of him that she’d fantasized about for days, even when she told herself she didn’t, stood ready and wanting, a drop of moisture at the tip glinting in the candlelight. “Why did you stop?”

Adrian leaned over her back, trailing light kisses along her spine. His length grazed her bottom and she groaned, leaning backward into him. When he reached her neck, he nipped at one of her earlobes.
